Dusty Road Boxers is located on the Colorado prairie, East of Colorado Springs. We have 40 acres of ranchland for our boxer babies to romp on. We have a very limited breeding program and breed for quality not quantity. With limited breeding we have produced over 15 homebred champions, and many more grandkids and great grandkids have finished from these. We strive to produce a healthy boxer as well as a beautiful one. Our breeding animals are health tested for heart disease, via color Doppler echocardiogram, and holter monitor yearly, we also screen for hip displasia and degenerative mylopathy. We professionally handle all breeds of show dogs and have a beautiful kennel for our clients for when they come to "Boxer Camp".
Randy and Judy handle show dogs full time. Judy also operates Impressions In Pet Grooming, where she grooms dogs and sells pet supplies. They are members of the American Boxer Club, Randy is president and Judy is corresponding secretary of the Pikes Peak Boxer Club. Judy is also a graphic designer and designs and prints t shirts and other dog related products.
Randy and I got our first Boxer in 1983, shortly after we were married. Cody was just a pet, and we loved her very much. Then in 1986 we decided to get her a companion. We bought Dusty, High Country's Dusty Roads, (hence our kennel name) and decided to try our hand at dog shows. We hired a handler and Dusty took Best of Winners in his third dog show, from the puppy class. Needless to say, we were hooked! We decided to take handling lessons and show him ourselves. Dusty ended his show career with 5 points, but we learned a lot on the way. In 1987 we purchased Sunar's Allure of Dusty Road's, who became our foundation bitch. In 1989 she was bred to CH Barisle's Dash of Magic SOM. She presented us with 5 gorgeous puppies in her first litter. Of that litter we finished our first Champion, CH Dusty Road's Maximillian. He finished completely owner handled! His first big win was a Best of Breed at the Wichita Kennel Club from the puppy class for a 4 point major! He went on to finish with three majors, and three Best of Breeds, including a Specialty Best in Show and a group placement!
We repeated this breeding, and this time we kept two puppies to show. We finished Tucker, CH Dusty Road's First Impression NA NAJ and CH Dusty Road's Impressive (Becky). From these original 3 champions, started our breeding program which includes two top twenty contenders, one making it two consecutive years, many more champions, best of breed winners, group winners, and specialty winners, as well as agility and obedience title holders.
Currently we are showing and breeding the next generation of boxers from the original dogs we started with, please check out our babies. We have gotten involved in agility and have titled several of our dogs, proving that they are not only beautiful but can perform.
All of our dogs are home raised and are our house dogs. We raise our dogs naturally on a raw unprocessed diet and they are on a limited vaccination program to promote health and long lives.
We've recently introduced some UK lines and European lines to our breeding program, in order to expand the gene pool and to ad back some qualities that we feel our being lost in this country. We think by adding lines from around the world will help strengthen our conformation and add to the longevity of our breed.
We have also added a very special Boston Terrier to our kennel. Check out his page!
We are proud members of the American Boxer Club, Pikes Peak Boxer Club, Rocky Mountain Boston Terrier Club, Colorado Springs Kennel Club, and we are AKC Breeders of Merit and we are White Boxer Friendly!
